Useful Advice About Education

I work on computers for the school district that I live in. This is the school district I went to school in and it will be the school district that my kids will go to school in. So I feel like that when I work on these computers and get them back up and working that I am helping my kids future for when they go to school. I have worked here for about four years, and in this four years I can honestly tell you that computers in education does make a difference if used properly. Some teachers do use the computer as kind of a babysitter and do not use this technology effectively. The teachers that do use it effectively get great rewards from this.

The rewards that teachers get from using effective computer integrated teaching are of course improved grades. It is hard for teachers to keep kids interested in what they are teaching when it is just them the students and a chalk board. The students get bored and tired very quickly. When teachers use the interaction with a computer or maybe using some kind of interactive whiteboard, the students stay involved in the discussion and retain more of what they learn. Especially when they can relate it to an activity that they did that was interactive.

A goal that is number one priority for us is that teachers get a chance to use and access one of the technologies spoken about in this blog post. Our own studies which we get back based on scores from the state suggest this. The more technology that is introduced in the school system and the more that teachers are using it effectively, the higher the test scores are. We do not feel that this is a coincidence at all.

About two years ago our teachers were having a hard time getting consistent high test scores. This was before we had a large number of interactive whiteboards. We started getting more and more of these interactive whiteboards and more and more teachers started using them and using them correctly. About a year ago test scores were gaining momentum. Our teachers have expressed lots of interest in this technology and want to use it because they know that it really helps the students. It is also great for them to use this technology because it gets them motivated to teach as well because using the interactive whiteboards is a fun way to teach and learn.

I know that this post is not the usual post that I write, but I felt that I needed to write about what I do and how I think it helps our kids because our kids are our future. Our future is of something these days that is uncertain. With lots of layoffs and everyone speaking of the economic crisis that we are in it is kind of depressing. So, it helps for me to write and maybe for you to read that maybe our future is not so uncertain after all.
