Safer workplaces benefit from higher team morale and lower costs

A safe work environment is a valuablething. When an organization invests in creating a safer environment for employees, it will reap a bonus. Safer workplaces are, generally more profitable workplaces, and no doubt, do better.

Wise bosses understand the benefits of a safe workplace

Safety at work is not just the “right thing” to do type of responsibility, but also a financially sound decision. Behind all this, is the requirement to abide by the law. As every employee only knows too well, you cannot perform well if you are concerned for your safety, or even worse, you and your fellow workers are regularly hurt whilst working.

Legally, employers have a statutory duty to protect workers from the established dangers of work. Health and safety legislation defines employer’s obligation to understand all work hazards and to prioritize any actions that need to be taken. Employers are compelled to have a safe workplace, but then, your safety at work, is also your own responsibility. Personally, if you don’t like the workplace safety ethos and your complaints go unheeded, you should look for other employment and/or, to ensure no one gets hurt, inform the work place authorities.

Tell your workplace inductee’s of your organizations safe work ethos

An organization’s HR people should have in their employment hiring steps, a presentation that includes a safety briefing covering company policy, equipment use, training in personal protection equipment, explanation of workplace safety signs and an understanding of OH&S.

Your workers compensation premiums show your organisations safety record and with healthcare costs going up, fees look ready to go up. But, by working to have a lower incidence of accidents, organizations may be able to contain these increases and, in some cases, significantly reduce premiums.

Safety in the workplace is life-sustaining for an organizations continued success. And is a good dollar earner, a prudent ethical decision and a great contribution to the health and welfare of your people…
