I just finished this book and it is a must-read for any restaurant owner or manager.
Jose Riesco is clearly one of the best in this field. He not only explains and improves basic marketing techniques, but he has a greater vision that explains the importance of having the marketing mind set, how to brand and position your business for success, and “outside the box” marketing strategies.
While so many restaurants are running to slash prices in today’s economy, Mr. Riesco focuses on ways to increase profits, increase perceived value to your customers, and building rock solid customer loyalty to drive sales.
He understands that “knowing your numbers” is critical to any business’ bottom line. So, be sure to read pages 192 – 197 that layout the numbers you need to know to drive your profits through the roof. Plus, the book is filled with valuable resources to help you apply the strategies he shares.

This is a must read book for any restaurant owner whether you are just starting out or an old hand. This book is literally worth thousands of dollars for those restaurateurs who are prepared to methodically read this book, do the homework and apply the strategies. This is pure gold.
I have read many restaurant and general marketing books and this would have to be one of the best because of its simple, easy to understand style, with excellent summaries and “homework” for you to take away and immediately apply in your business.
Marketing is all about developing a system and here it is laid out for you in 194 easy to read pages. I consult to restaurants in Sydney, Australia and my clients literally pay thousands of dollars for this information.
Jose Riesco not only shows you how to set the base for a successful business based on building caring relationships, he shows you how to purchase services for your restaurant at way below cost so everyone wins, but how to increase customer numbers without wasting heaps on advertising using powerful targeted growth strategies that are proven to work, he includes ways to increase the amount customers spend with you and how to get your customers to return and dine more often.
While this book focuses on restaurants all the principles used in this book could be taken and transposed into almost any small business and used with success.

What’s good about this book is that it doesn’t just tell you some general marketing concepts and methods, it sets the right mindset for restaurant owners to begin with and then goes into every aspect of running the restaurant business and teaches you ways to do things better. I like the chapter about bartering very much which got me thinking “Wow, how come I didn’t think of that!”
Better yet, at the end of each chapter, there’s home work. Yes, that’s right, home work! So basically, if you just buy the book and do the home work, you will see the result pretty soon. I can’t wait to try those methods I’ve learned.
